Toquilla straw is a flexible yet durable material, naturally grown in the Ecuadorian provinces of Santa Elena and Manabí. Small communities of artisans handle the cultivation, harvesting, processing, and preparation of the straw for weavers and buyers. The knowledge of this art is passed down from generation to generation.

Our products are crafted from Toquilla straw. As an artisanal product, each piece is hand-woven by master weavers in Ecuador. In dry climates or when exposed to the sun, the straw should be lightly misted with a water spray from time to time.
